The First Year anniversary was marked by visiting a Sickle Cell patient who had been in pain for a few months but could not afford to go to the hospital. The patient’s name is a 34 year old woman is living with the condition. She asked for her information to be with held, and we respect that. Members of CrimsonBow SCI paid her a visit, paid her medical bills, encouraged her and gave her a few groceries. This took place on April 23^rd 2016. Pictures with her are not posted as well.

Project Geneducation is a public awareness, education and advocacy campaign aimed at changing individual behaviours, societal norms and policies regarding sickle cell prevention. The ultimate goal of the project is to advance awareness and education around sickle cell disease in Nigeria in order to reduce the population affected by the disease in the future. We started in Ogun, Oyo and Lagos State and plan to extend to other parts of the country in the nearest future. For the current phase, we shall focus on Lagos State because of its dense population.

Our initiative is dedicated to enhancing the lives of individuals facing the challenges of sickle cell disease. Our main focus is on empowering patients and their families through a range of comprehensive resources and tools.

Living with sickle cell disease can be financially burdensome, given the high costs of treatment and frequent hospital admissions. Additionally, the overall cost of living crisis can further exacerbate the situation. That’s why we are committed to making a difference by providing financial grants, offering capacity building techniques, and delivering inspirational talks. Our goal is to boost their earning potential and resilience, allowing them to face life’s obstacles with strength and determination.

Through Project Empower a Warrior, we aim to create a supportive community and a source of hope for those affected by sickle cell disease
